Lynyrd Skynyrd performed at the St. Augustine Amphitheater - October 23, 2009 Jacksonville's own Lynyrd Skynyrd was the definitive southern rock band. Their classic hits like "Free Bird", "Sweet Home Alabama" & "Gimme Three Steps" have become Amercian athems and have embeded Lynyrd Skynyrd into American culture. They continue the legacy that started over 35 years ago and will be playing their classic hits as well as new material. Their new CD "God & Guns" was released September 29th.

SKYNYRD TRIBUTE HISTORY Every year since 1997, a weekend in October has been set aside as a Skynyrd Fan Fest to honor the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band and their music. This year the Tribute is being held in November because Lynyrd Skynyrd is performing at the St.Augustine Amphitheater in October on the date we had scheduled. The Skynyrd Tribute is a time of special remembrance of original band members who gave the world their extraordinary talents and creativity which is responsible for the unique Lynyrd Skynyrd sound: Ronnie Van Zant * 1948-1977 Allen Collins * 1952-1990 Gary Rossington Leon Wilkeson * 1952-2001 Billy Powell * 1952-2009 Steve Gaines * 1949-1977 Ed King Artimus Pyle ~ Honkettes ~ Cassie Gaines * 1948-1977 JoJo Billingsley Leslie Hawkins (* "Freebirds") This annual event was originally created by Judy & Melody Van Zant of the The Freebird Foundation until October 2000, the Freebird Foundation closed in 2001. Artimus Pyle organized The Celebration Of Life Tribute, a similar event in October 2001. Since 2002, local Jacksonville rock band KYMYSTRY independently organizes, sponsors and continues the annual "free" fan based event with the help of lots of "Frynds". Bands and Solo Artists donate their time and talents to round out a full weekend of live music! The Skynyrd Chat Frynds internet group at have participated in the annual tributes since 1997. "Skynyrd Sytes Maps"will be available providing directions and information to area Lynyrd Skynyrd related sytes of interest for fans to tour at their leisure.
